Mark - UR4Driving graduate
Before joining UR4Driving, I was in residential rehab in a community resettlement project, and I was volunteering with Forward Trust as a peer mentor. Being accepted on to the UR4Driving course gave me the opportunity to have structure in my days again; without this, I could have found myself in a different place mentally without anything to do.
Looking back, I never thought that I could get a full licence, but this was made possible by the generosity of the charity and the time that they spent helping me when I was struggling to learn different parts of the theory test. This has shown me that I am able to achieve my goals and not always think that I can’t, before even tackling the problem. Previously, I wasn’t in a position to pay for driving lessons or a test, so this has been massive for me. I now have the opportunity to save for my car. Ever since I started, I have moved out, got married, passed my test and found a full time job! I’ve even rebuilt foundations with my family, all during lockdown. It’s now all about maintenance – looking after what I have accomplished. What a fantastic organisation!
